AI flash cards with images

A flash card does not have to be two blocks of text. In IntelMemorAI every card can carry one supporting image — an illustration the AI draws from the card's own question and answer, or a picture you already have: a diagram from your lecture slides, a screenshot of a dashboard, a photo of a specimen. The image appears both in the card list and in study mode, right next to the answer.

Why images help recall

Cognitive psychology calls it dual coding: material encoded as both words and a picture gives your memory two independent routes back to the same fact. When one route fails, the other can still get you there. That is why anatomy, chemistry, geography and language learners lean on visuals so heavily — a labelled diagram is faster to recognise and harder to confuse than a paragraph describing it.

The effect is not magic, and it is not universal. An image helps when it carries information the text alone cannot — structure, spatial relationships, a visual pattern. A decorative picture stapled to a definition card mostly adds noise. IntelMemorAI therefore makes images opt-in per card rather than generating one for everything.

Two ways to add an image

1. Generate it with AI

Open any card and choose Generate with AI. The prompt is built from that card's question, its answer and the topic of the session, so the illustration is about the fact you are learning rather than the subject in general. You can also type your own short description if you want something specific, and regenerate if the first attempt misses.

2. Use your own picture

Pick a file, drag it onto the card, or simply paste from the clipboard — the same screenshot you just captured goes straight onto the card. Supported formats are PNG, JPEG and WebP, up to 5 MB per file, one image per card. You can replace or remove the image at any time.

Limits and costs

Privacy

Card images live in private storage scoped to your account. They are not part of any public library, they are not shared between users, and they are deleted along with the study session they belong to when you delete it.

When to use an image — and when not to

Good candidates: anatomy and biology, chemical structures, circuit and process diagrams, map and geography questions, vocabulary in a new language, user-interface steps you need to reproduce from memory. Weak candidates: pure definitions, dates, formulas you already read symbolically, and any card where the picture would only restate the text.

Questions

Can I add images to my flash cards?

Yes. Each card can hold one image. You can generate it with AI from the card's question and answer, or add your own file by choosing it, dragging it onto the card, or pasting it from the clipboard.

Which image files can I upload?

PNG, JPEG and WebP files up to 5 MB each. One image per card.

Does generating an image use my plan allowance?

Generating an image with AI counts as one AI action from your monthly allowance. Uploading or pasting your own image costs nothing and uses no AI action.

Where are card images stored?

In private storage tied to your account. Only you can see them, and they are deleted together with the study session they belong to.
